Dear validity to my hobby,

My teacher showed a photo similar to this one in class the other day. He was trying to get us to understand the horrible living conditions in cities during the 1800s, and how the culture reflected the city lay-out. That's fascinating.

But all I could really think was:

Man.......thank you photographers. For preserving the world through capturing moments that become history.

I follow National Geography on Instagram. The brilliance of the world in its pure form. There is beauty in this world. We've just got to find it.

Dear culmination,

You know when you have been waiting for things to finally all just come together. And in a day of terrifying risk, you just let it happen? And all your fears are shoved to the bottom of your brain's storage? And you just want to enjoy flying through the air.

Yeah.....well that happened today. I finally did it. Everything is done for Thailand. And it's kinda scary. But I'm so happy to finally be here. I'm stoked for travel. I need less expensive joys/hobbies.

One sad moment: the Jeru bag has been replaced.

Dear Hair,

I love you, hair. You are not too straight, not too difficult. Slightly shiny, slightly beautiful.

Sometimes you makes me happy. When I roll down the window. When I ride my bike without a helmet.

You have long been associated with beauty in this world. You are hid and exposed and precious.

You are important. This is something Luke tried to intervene on. "Your identity isn't defined by your appearance" he told me once when we were talking about feminism.

And my friend from highschool's comment came into mind: "How am I supposed to attract a potential mate without my luscious locks?" -D.Brown. I think I laughed for 5 minutes.

I dunno. I just felt like cutting it all off. So I did.

And I can't tell if that's a big deal or not.

Dear nothin's sweeter than summertime,

she grew up on the side of the road
where the church bells ring and strong love grows
she grew up good she grew up slow
like american honey
David and Goliath's field (Ellah Valley), Israel
I can't wait to get going
but I'm not quite ready to leave

Dear positiveness,

This weekend was supposed to be a lot better than it was.

I think disappointment has got to be the worst emotion.

There was two hours today that I was happy. Listening to General Conference. I'm glad I'm a Mormon.

Dear Japanese Encephalitis,

You know those days where you start to believe your best friend's smile can fix any problem, cure any disease, or heal any wound?

Today was one of those days.

I love Tyler Vale, Rachel Caroline, and Jesus Christ.
